ARE YOU BEING YODDED?

In July 2026 we enter one of the most interesting astrological configurations of this decade: a rare outer-planet mini-trine involving Pluto in Aquarius, Neptune in Aries, and Uranus in Gemini. As seen in Figure 1, they form exact aspects when Uranus sextiles Neptune around July 15, Uranus trines Pluto around July 17, and Neptune sextiles Pluto around July 24, bringing these three slow-moving planets into a powerful triangular relationship.  A preview of this pattern was already visible in the latter half of 2024, although the full Uranus-Neptune-Pluto mini-trine was not exact at that time.

Among many possibilities, this mini-trine can bring rapid shifts in world events, leadership, and public narratives. Pluto in Aquarius relates to transformation in power structures, Neptune in Aries brings new ideals and belief movements, and Uranus in Gemini speaks to change in communication, media, and education.

But what makes this configuration even more interesting is its potential to form yods when it connects with natal planets or angles in the early degrees of Virgo or Scorpio. A yod is formed when two planets in sextile both make quincunxes to a third point. It is often called the “finger of fate,” but I think this phrase only makes sense if we understand the quincunx itself.

The quincunx describes a connection that does not flow easily. It is strange, indirect, and difficult to consciously manage. It joins signs that do not naturally understand each other, almost as if they are speaking different languages, yet they are somehow forced to work together. In my article, “Quincunx Aspects: A Twist of Fate?” (Selva, 2024), I found that strong quincunx patterns often correlated with sudden life changes, including illness, accidents, loss, major career shifts, and dramatic changes in life direction. These events could be positive or negative, but the common thread was that life suddenly changed course. The person had to adapt to something that was not fully planned or consciously chosen.

When these three outer planets work together to form yods, old narratives can dissolve quickly, new movements can emerge suddenly, and leadership or social structures may shift in unexpected ways.

We saw a preview of this during the June 27, 2024, Biden-Trump debate. As seen in Figure 2, on the day of the debate, transiting Pluto in early Aquarius was sextile transiting Neptune in late Pisces, forming the base of a yod whose apex fell across Trump’s Ascendant and Biden’s natal North Node, both at 29° Leo (Figure 2).  Trump’s ascendant is also conjunct Mars and fixed star Regulus. At the same time, Biden’s Node is conjunct Chiron, which squares both his ascendant at 3° Sagittarius and natal Uranus at 2° Gemini. In symbolic terms, this was a time of a radical shift in the trajectory of the presidential race.

By the middle of 2026, Uranus becomes part of the configuration, turning the Pluto-Neptune sextile into a fuller outer-planet mini-trine. People with natal planets or angles around 2–6° Virgo may feel the Pluto-Neptune sextile forming a yod to that point. Those with planets or angles around 2–6° Scorpio may experience a similar yod involving the Uranus-Neptune sextile. During this period, endings and beginnings may appear quickly, often through circumstances that are not fully planned or consciously chosen. A move, relationship change, career shift, or sudden realization may arise because events themselves push for an adjustment.

Globally, we may see sudden shifts in governments, leadership structures, technology, media, and public narratives. The deeper lesson of the yod is that not every turning point comes through planning. Sometimes life redirects us. Perhaps the alchemy happens when we stop trying to control every outcome and learn how to respond with courage, flexibility, and awareness.
