September 2026 Elections

Welcome to September! Eclipse season is behind us and we have both Mercury and Venus to enjoy in the first ten days of the month as they finish their courses in excellent dignity. Venus in in Domicile in Virgo and Mercury is nearly as dignified as they could possibly be in Virgo and Chariot with the Sun.

There are several reasons to lean toward Mercury in this case. One being that while Venus is well dignified, she is in the degrees which she will recover during her October-November retrograde. This and the stunning elections I was able to find for Mercury made the call. However, if you have Venusian work to do, September 3 is a fine day for it.

Here is what we are working with in September:

• The Sun starts the month in Virgo until the Libra Equinox on September 23
• The Moon visits each sign, as always
  • Waning from 25Aries to 18Virgo
  • Waxing from 19Virgo to 3Aries
  • Waning from 4Aries to 3Gemini
• Mercury is Domicile and Exalted in Virgo through their Libra ingress on September 10
• Venus starts out in Domicile in Libra, then ingresses her Detriment in Scorpio on September 10
  • Venus is in her pre-retrograde degrees between 22Libra – 8Scorpio
• Mars spends most of the month Fallen in Cancer, then moves into Leo on September 28
• Jupiter is Direct in Leo throughout the month
• Saturn is Retrograde in Aries throughout the month
  • Saturn stations Retrograde July 25 – December 9

For review, we are looking for a basic election with the planet of choice well dignified, rising or culminating during their own hour and preferably day, and for the planet and the Moon to be unafflicted. 

Our election finds Mercury in Domicile as well as Exaltation, the planet of both the day and the hour, enjoying Chariot with the Sun, and in an exact trine with the Exalted Taurus Moon. The only drawbacks here are that the Moon is Disseminating and Mercury is Under the Beams. Some astrologers believe that being Under the Beams can be overlooked when a planet is in Chariot, so we are only dealing with the somewhat waning Moon. If the Moon were waxing, this would be a perfect talisman candidate, but it is still nice for an election, especially if you are looking to alleviate anxieties or overwhelm.

This election may be tricky for folks not on the East Coast to get the planetary hour with Mercury on the Ascendant. Feel free to still use the trine of the Moon and Mercury if you like!

Ritual:

• Prepare ritual space, using 8 Gray or Multicolored candles and dressing in similarly colored clothes.
• At elected time, light the candles and burn Frankincense
• Perform the elected action.
• Recite the Hymn to Mercury, meditate on the desired outcome.
