Special Interest Research Group
Led by Jeremy Walker and Taina Ketola
This group welcomes all astrologers interested in autism, whether or not they are autistic themselves, including those who are self-identified or still exploring. We’ve been meeting since October 2025.
Our mission is to discover and develop ways astrology can help autistic people. We focus on deepening our understanding of the inner experience of autistic people, and on how astrology might help them live more meaningful, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
Society’s understanding of autism is changing quickly, and we embrace that change. Much of what has been historically said about autism was established before autistic people were part of the conversation. We lean toward a neurodiversity-affirming view, but we don’t believe there is only one correct way to think about autism. We welcome a range of perspectives, and astrologers from every tradition and approach.
For autistic astrologers, the group offers a safe place to talk about their own experiences with like-minded people, if they want to. Sharing is entirely optional. No member is ever asked to disclose whether they are autistic, and it’s up to each person to decide what, if anything, they share. Our members also include non-autistic astrologers who care deeply about the topic. Many of them support autistic clients, and some have autistic family members, partners, or friends.
We hope this group is a place where autistic astrologers can find support and inspiration in their practice, given the particular challenges and gifts autism brings. Astrology can be especially valuable to autistic people. It can offer a language for understanding themselves, and a way to make sense of and communicate with a world that can often feel foreign.
The group itself does not run formal research projects. Instead, we welcome members who want to lead their own research and draw on the group for support, feedback, and collaboration.
Jeremy Walker is a professional astrologer and lead astrology software developer for the TimePassages astrology app, and he is currently in the process of completing the diploma program at Kepler College. Since 2018, Jeremy has accumulated over 1600 hours of professional experience as an ICF-certified coach, specializing in supporting autistic and ADHD clients. Through his practice, Jeremy has been passionately exploring how astrology and coaching can help neurodiverse individuals. Jeremy was diagnosed as level 1 on the autism spectrum in 2021, and astrology is definitely one of his special interests!
Taina Ketola has been a student and practitioner of astrology for more than 40 years. She is the founder of Third Stage Astrology, a system of karmic or evolutionary astrology that tracks the soul’s development through many lifetimes and gives profound insight into the current life and its potential. Her son was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome (in valid use at the time of his diagnosis) in his 20s. She found herself in a similar situation to many parents of autistic children, who, as a result, were also diagnosed or self-diagnosed with autism. As she put it, “It explains everything…”
