Autism and Astrology

This group welcomes autistic astrologers as well as any astrologers interested in the study of autism from an astrological perspective.

Initial meetings will explore different perspectives, areas of potential research, and ways that we might approach research into this topic.

We also hope that this group will be a place for autistic members to gain support and inspiration in their practice of astrology, given the special challenges and gifts that autism presents.

We suspect that the study and practice of astrology can be uniquely valuable to autists, as it can offer them a vehicle through which to understand and communicate with a world that can otherwise feel rather foreign and alienating at times.

We anticipate that early meetings will most likely include quite a bit of informal sharing and personal insights that could build a collective understanding of this topic in ways we may not anticipate.

As the group evolves, we can decide on specific areas of research to pursue. We are also interested in producing written and video material to present our conclusions to the public, explain autism to astrologers, and explain astrology to the autistic. The possibilities are many, and we look forward to seeing where things want to go based on the interests of group participants.

Possible topics that this group might explore:
● Are there any common astrological indicators that accompany autism?
● How does autism impact the expression of an individual’s chart?
● Does an autistic person express their chart significations in a different way than a
neurotypical person might?
● Are there particular planets, signs, or fixed stars that resonate with the qualities of
autism?
● How can astrology help autistic people in ways that other tools cannot?
● Why does there seem to be so many astrologers who are autistic? Do the statistics
support this observation?
● Can current mundane transits explain the recent explosion of public awareness and
understanding of autism?

This group meets on the fourth Sunday of each month at 5 pm Pacific/8 pm Eastern time. Meetings are 90 minutes in duration.

Jeremy Walker is an astrologer and astrology software developer who is part of the team at Astrograph Software, and is currently in the process of completing the diploma program at Kepler College. Since 2018, Jeremy has accumulated over 1600 hours of professional experience as an ICF-certified coach, specializing in supporting autistic and ADHD clients through Neurodiverging.com.

Through his practice, Jeremy has been passionately exploring how astrology and coaching can help neurodiverse individuals, and how these individuals might be able to help humanity in more ways than meet the eye. Jeremy was diagnosed as level 1 on the autism spectrum in 2021, and astrology is definitely one of his special interests!

Taina Ketola has been a student and practitioner of astrology for more than 40 years.

She is the founder of Third Stage Astrology, a system of karmic or evolutionary astrology that tracks the soul’s development through many lifetimes and gives profound insight into the current life and its potential.

Her son was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome (in valid use at the time of his diagnosis) in his 20s. She found herself in a similar situation to many parents of autistic children, who, as a result, were also diagnosed or self-diagnosed with autism.

As she put it, “It explains everything…”
